At our first professional meeting we heard from McKenna Pryor owner and founder of Dolled Up Studios. She taught us ten keys to success that she used on her journey. In our first developmental meeting, we were inspired by McKenna to try an entrepreneurship activity and create vision boards.
McKenna's 10 Keys to Success: 1. Find your passion 6. Enjoy EVERY step of the journey 2. Do not settle 7. Manifest the life you want 3. What you put in is what you get out 8. You can be a hustler and rest 4. Comparison is the thief of joy 9. You can't do it all, that is okay 5. Growth comes from failure 10. When you get knocked down 7 times, get back up 8 |
We were very lucky to have Amanda Goodman come speak to us about being a confident woman in the workplace. She talked to us about being unapologetically ourselves and knowing who we are and what we stand for. She also taught us about standing up for each other and allowing yourself to evolve. Big thanks to Amanda for taking the time to come share her story with us!

This November we had the opportunity to travel to Minneapolis for our professional trip. We were first welcomed by Rocket 55 where we learned so much about the company and was given great advice. Next, we were able to have a mixer with U of MN WIB and various companies. Then we traveled downtown to Ernst and Young where we were given an office tour and some more career advice. Of course, we also found some time to get some bonding in over dinner and shopping!

This month we were very fortunate to be able to host the Accel Group. They provided us with knowledge about how to build a strong financial foundation, how to accept and understand our first job offer, as well as an introduction to insurance. These ladies were so much fun to host and look forward to seeing some of them again on our spring pro-trip! We also were able to put some of these skills into practice during our developmental meeting where we looked into budgeting and learned what benefits are important to us.

This month we had our local professional trip! We started our day off with the Accel Group in Waverly where we were welcomed by a panel. We then headed over to Waterloo to Lincoln Savings Bank. We got a great lunch and some awesome networking time. To end the day, we went to VGM where we had small group discussions about future career advice. Thank you to everyone who came and those businesses who welcomed us!

For this month’s professional meeting, we welcomed back our wonderful advisor Katie Hillyer. Katie talked to us about what it means to be radically candor and how that can help us. She gave great advice on how to be a better leader and an employee. We then expanded these skills in our developmental meeting while eating Panda Express!

This month we had the honor of hosting a few ladies from Principal. They discussed with us their personal experiences of being a woman in the workplace, how they network best, and how interesting a career in real estate can be. We then put these lessons into action during our development meeting where we practiced networking and discussed the main takeaways from the professional meeting.

The Women of Excellence event allows WIB to recognize students who display professionalism, inspire their peers, and are a positive influence on those around them. It is always great to be reminded of those incredible people making an impact on our campus through leadership. Congratulations to all our nominees and congratulations to our Woman of Excellence 2023 Tristen Prouse.

We are all so thankful for the amazing school year we have had, so no better way to end it than with an ice cream social! We ate ice cream, recapped our favorite memories, congratulated the graduating class, and honored each level of membership. Thanks to everyone who helped make this such a special year for WIB!
